This renovated 1940’s kitchen is beautiful, warm and inviting to visitors
“Looking at the finished product, you’d never know this space once housed a typical 1940s kitchen — a small, dark and dingy room with little storage or bench space.
Now it’s a magnificently modern design that effortlessly incorporates the chic indoors with the great outdoors. The client’s brief was to completely renovate the area using a balanced design that would allow the whole family to prepare meals together in a bright and open space.
The owner also requested, as a personalised touch, to have red worked into the colour scheme as a nod to her vivacious nature. As you can see, the results speak for themselves.
As a focal point of the design, the beautifully bold L-shaped island maximises bench space and defines the kitchen area, creating a welcoming place for guests. A wall of drawers and cabinets also adds to the storage capabilities of the kitchen.
The ultra-bright white of the drawers and glass cabinetry generates the effect of airy spaciousness, while the splashes of red seen at the base of the island and various appliances, together with the sandy splashback and highly polished Jarrah flooring, bring the kitchen back down to earth and provide a cheery warmth to greet visitors.”
