This kitchen and Laundry make-over is part of a Complete renovation of a 1980’s custom designed home located in Balgownie.
Taking inspiration from mid-century contemporary modern kitchen design, the owners embraced minimal ornamentation and clean lines.
With a narrow entrance into the kitchen, emphasis was on the access to be unobstructed and the visual into the kitchen to be eye-catching. The curved island reveals a welcoming invitation into the space and minimises the footprint to the unit.
With the homeowner’s passion for cooking and entertaining, the cooktop, sink and seating were placed within the island bench. With food preparation becoming a part of the dining experience, the chef remains connected with their guest. This connection allows everyone to enjoy the exciting chitchat that makes dinner parties and entertaining enjoyable.
Working with the original floorplan, the design included a new butler’s pantry to accommodate a large family’s needs. With the island bench, the main food preparation area, the addition of the butler’s pantry offers additional zones to the kitchen. The new design caters to the various needs the family requires and, reduces kitchen clutter
The selection of Staron was the ideal surface to create the sleek curved end panel, flowing to the floor for extra impact. For the Staron benchtops, a combination of edge profiles includes a thicker detail to the butler’s pantry while a more delicate profile with brass inlay feature was introduced to the island to complement the tap.
The collection of soft colour tones and timber accents creates a calming environment for what can often be a very hectic room in the home.
