A Salute to Muted Monotones

Gallery

Set within the remarkable landscape of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, it made sense for this home to complement, rather than compete with, its spectacular coastal location.

Creating a feel of effortless immersion called for careful planning and consideration though, with large windows strategically placed to capitalise on the picturesque setting, and textures and tones deliberately chosen, inside and out, to reflect the raw beauty of the rugged coastline.

The culmination is an exquisite blend of striking dark timbers, handmade bricks, marmorino render and natural, sustainable features that anchor the home within its environment and create a cocoon of warmth for its owners.

The innate comfort of the interior is further enhanced by the cohesive use of deeply variegated stone and lighter neutral surfaces in the functional zones — kitchen, butler’s pantry and bathroom areas. These are beautifully balanced by streamlined Pegasi mixers, spouts, shower ware and robe hooks, in a Brushed Graphite tone that features throughout.

The deep metallic grey of the tapware and accessories, by Faucet Strommen, harmonises with both the softer textural tiling and the rich tones of the stone, and the brushed finish and curvaceous silhouette of the range adds a softening effect to the overall interior.

Indeed, the inspired selection of tapware and accessories serves as a perfect accompaniment to the home’s moody, muted monotones, offering a nod to the designer’s attention to fine detailing and reflecting the owners’ desire for quality in every aspect of this evocative home.
