Inspired by the dramatic beauty of our coastline, Concepts by Gavin Hepper’s Oceanview Project showcases innovation in design and functionality, delivering a stunning space where the family can gather.
The centrepiece of this room is the kitchen island, providing form, texture and grandeur via visual impact. To explore innovation in design and manufacturing, Gavin specified Staron® Solid Surfaces be used. This material offers the ability for the bench to appear as one complete solid piece, thermoformed into flowing curves and sculpted into a specific shape. The result is a unique piece of furniture that is stain-resistant, durable, hygienic and, most importantly, stunning.
Your eyes will be drawn to the soft curves and opposing angles of the island. But it’s not purely good looks that offer the Staron island its appeal; cladded drawer fronts and an incredible centre storage element, accessible via hydraulic lift, make this kitchen island functional as well as fashionable.
Staron has also been used in the kitchen benchtop surfaces, where it is again wrapped and formed around curves and even extends down into the sink to provide a truly seamless design experience.
Provenance and connection to the home were integral to this design, with inspiration taken from the iconic lighthouse and headland to form the curved fluting under the bench. The dramatic ocean seascape and its ever-changing shades are reflected in the customised colour scheme of this family kitchen, which also celebrates restraint.
