Striking opulence

It’s no wonder this bathroom won the prestigious HIA Award for Best Bathroom in 2016

Once a bland, sterile space, which was boxed in by unnecessary walls, this bathroom is now opulent and highly functional. The semi-retired homeowners requested a striking room they could call their sanctuary and which would match the rest of their home. Functionality and ease of maintenance was extremely important to the homeowners. A seamless custom Corian shower base creates a clean-easy groutless solution. The Bubbles design team used a clever alternation of black and white, which still allowed the stunning gemstone tops to be the focal point. Caesarstone Blue Agate surfaces selected for the double vanity’s benchtop and the double bath’s hob are beautifully backlit with LED strip lighting. This provides ambience and doubles as mood lighting. Custom mirrors were built to complement the rest of the home and were installed above the vanities, while a tall dress mirror with double doors that swing in different directions to access toiletries and shower accessories from both sides of the unit were installed between the shower and toilet. The existing concrete floors with inbuilt hydronic heating were the biggest design challenge when relocating the plumbing layout.
