A tragedy leads to this family kitchen becoming a warm and modern centre of the home

“After tragically losing their home in a bushfire, our clients needed help to rebuild and create their dream kitchen. The result is a light and bright space with a modern feel. The extensive cabinetry incorporates smart internal hardware solutions to utilise storage space effectively. We used mirror laminate for the kickboards to create the effect of modern floating cabinets. The home was designed with a window either side of the cooktop, and we enhanced that feature with balanced and contemporary cabinets. The placement of the windows also brings light into the kitchen, which is intensified by the white-tiled splashback. The Cuban timber panels add interesting visual contrast to the space and suits the modern style. The gorgeous black Smartstone benchtop is the focal piece of the room and is perfect for dining and entertaining. This stunning kitchen is now the hub of our clients’ beautiful new home.”

We love: The symmetrical design of the windows and cooktop.

Expert tip: Use LED strip lights to create an even spread of light under overhead cabinets.
