Recent empty nesters, the homeowners of this outdated abode had an ambitious vision for the renovation of their formally bland, cookie-cutter developer unit.
They wanted their child-free, forever home to embody the ambience of a Roaring 20’s Prohibition Night Club – full of glitz, glamour and luxury. The resulting transformation was so stunning it allowed the designers, All Bathroom Gear, to take home the HIA 2024 Award for Renovated Kitchen over $50 000. The design team leaned heavily on the era of Art Deco glam throughout this full unit renovation, with careful consideration given to the tile and fixture selections to achieve the luxury feel desired. Gloss black subway tiles on the lower wall set the stage for the large-format Signorita Labradorite tiles above, with a bullnose belt rail tile used to transition between the two.
Matt black floor tiles surround a floor detail of the same stunning Labradorite feature tiles, pulling out the golden veining that complements the light that dances across the metallic gold painted ceiling created by crystal globe pendants by Chandlier Australia. Custom cabinetry in Resene Welcome Green adds an equally rich touch, just as the heritage toilet suite by Turner Hastings, Brodware brushed Nordic brass tapware and an Art Deco-style mirror add just the right amount of Prohibition-era pizzazz to make this bathroom truly shine.
The project was not without its challenges, given the ambitious nature of the design, and the fact that it was to be executed on the 29th floor of the building, the design team leaned on 20 years of experience, expertise and critical thinking by their tradesman and craftsmen. The team’s ability to engineer clever solutions with beautiful outcomes to each challenge resulted in a glamorous ensuite with a bygone-era flair for a fun-loving couple.
