From the centrally-located statement pool to the custom-sized windows and raised ceilings, this corner-block home in the suburbs of Brisbane has been expertly tailored by OJ Pippin Homes to meet the family’s every need and desire.
“The clients, a young working couple with children, gave us a design brief and we drew their home from scratch,” explains Wade Hastie, Managing Director, OJ Pippin Homes. “The concept was created and costed, and once the clients were 110 per cent happy they signed off on their new home which meant they could meet with our talented in-house interior designer to choose their colours. Any final changes were made and the build went to site.
“The clients received weekly update photos from our Operations Manager and had the option to check up on the build as often as they desired. OJ Pippin Homes specialises in custom projects and we do everything we can to ensure a smooth process before the house even goes to site. Once the build was complete, the home received a top-to-bottom clean before being handed over to the happy homeowners.”
Both inside and out, the design style is very modern thanks to the clean, crisp lines which evoke a contemporary aesthetic and bring a real sense of luxury to the home. Adds Wade, “The facade features a medley of textures and materials, including brickwork, glass and tile as well as vertical and horizontal cladding. As we kept the palette to black, white and grey, it has cohesion and great street appeal — it’s also a colour scheme that flows through to the inside of the home.
“The crisp colours and contrasts used for the interior finishes create a timeless theme throughout with accessories and furniture to add colour and style accents. Statement architraves throughout the home are another great design element as is the sleek, minimalist lighting and the floor-to-ceiling tiles in the bathroom which create a luxurious finish. There’s also the stunning kitchen with its handle-less black cabinetry and inbuilt appliances.”
Importantly, this home uses the corner-block location to its full potential. “With minimal room for a typical backyard, this plan features a yard to the side of the house, a strategically placed central pool and plenty of outdoor entertaining space at the front of the home,” says Wade. “Being a Queensland home exposed to typical Brisbane heat, it’s no surprise that the pool is the heart of the home.
“The beautiful pool sits right in the middle of the unique, U-shaped home and is the most eye-catching element of the design. Almost every room in the home has a view of the pool thanks to the large custom-made windows.”
