When the time came for a Brisbane couple to build their dream Hamptons-style home, a chance event led them to OJ Pippin Homes.
“Our journey actually started with OJ Pippin building on the block next to ours,” says owner Joy Bobir. “There was a delivery truck that knocked down a boundary peg which was hidden by grass so I phoned the company to mention the accident. I received a phone call back and assurance it would be rectified. It was fixed that very day with a follow-up call to let us know. I was so impressed with this and OJ’s genuineness, that we switched builder mid-design.”
Wade Hastie, Managing Director of OJ Pippin Homes takes up the story, saying, “The homeowners stipulated their budget, gave us the overall design inspiration for their home and, working together, a custom plan was drawn from scratch. After the plan was approved, it was time for the client to meet with our experienced interior designer.”
“I loved our meetings as they were a lot of fun and there was lots of laughter while working through the design. Nothing was too much trouble. To start our journey on such a high was great and very reassuring,” adds Joy. “Also, our interior designer was incredible with her help in design choices and ideas. I must say I am a very fussy and demanding client but you wouldn’t know as the team bent over backwards for me.”
“For the exterior, the client chose traditional Hamptons cladding in a rich Spring Falls blue with crisp Wattle white features. With the various textures, shadow lines and stonework at play in this facade, it has a huge impact on the street,” says Wade.
“More traditional Hamptons colours are used on the inside of the home — white and light greys with contrasting black. As you walk into the home you’re greeted with striking white stairs featuring a black trim, a large chandelier and windows covering an entire wall. As you move through the home you also notice the abundance of windows throughout — this creates a bright and breezy interior, gives an increased sense of space and maximises the beautiful bushland views.”
Of the kitchen, Wade says, “This is possibly one of the most impressive kitchens we have ever built at OJ. It features 2-pack designer cabinetry, Calacatta stone benchtops and completely built-in appliances, including a warming draw and hidden dishwasher. The indoor kitchen area flows seamlessly out onto a carefully designed alfresco with an outdoor kitchen that contains an in-built barbecue, rangehood and bar fridge; also a beautiful pool area and a custom-designed hut.”
“I can’t recommend a builder more highly,” says Joy. “The quality, finishes and workmanship are first rate. All the team members are great at what they do and have a great sense of professionalism, but also fun.”
