Small, narrow bathrooms do not need to be cramped and claustrophobic, and this design proves how clever design can turn a small bathroom into something spacious
On the contrary, good design and an effective use of space can lead to smaller areas seeming far larger than they physically are. The project pictured has successfully attained this, thanks to careful planning and a few well-thought-out additions to the space. This home’s former bathroom was dated, predominantly brown and included small-format tiles and a fully framed shower screen, which worked together to make the space seem small and closed in. The homeowners stressed that they wanted this rectified with a new, modern-look bathroom with a feature wall and an open, airy ambience.
To attain this look, an open shower design was implemented and modern mixers were installed to complement the new sleek, contemporary vanity unit. The floating vanity helped create the illusion of space, which was further accentuated by the large-format tiles and the open shower area. Two recesses were added to the northern wall to create sleek yet functional storage space for showering needs, and a final touch of character was inserted to the space via the feature wall.
