When it comes to saving water, owning a pool hardly seems conducive to that goal. However, with the right equipment and maintenance, your pool can use water efficiently without creating extra maintenance for you.
Waterco’s multi award-winning MultiCyclone filter technology is a good place to start, as it actually reduces filter maintenance while cutting your water use. The MultiCyclone is a compact pre-filtration device that can save users between 7000 to 10,000 litres of water a year (compared to sand filters). That’s the equivalent of 125 full bathtubs!
It works on the basis of centrifugal water filtration and has no moving parts to wear and no filter components to clean or replace. Put simply, the device spins sediment down to the sediment sump, while the cleansed water spirals upwards.
It’s also easy to clean; simply open the MultiCyclone’s purge valve. The frequency of filter maintenance is thus significantly reduced, and it only takes 15 litres of water to flush the unit, thus saving pool owners time and money.
One of the latest generation MultiCyclones is the MultiCyclone Ultra. This variation uses both centrifugal and cartridge filtration to provide higher water quality. Its centrifugal section filter pre-filters up to 80 per cent of the dirt which would normally go into the filter, and drains it out.
This extends the life of the filter media by decreasing the filter’s incoming dirt load. It also increases the capacity of the 75 square foot filter cartridge by five times, equivalent to a 375 square foot filter cartridge.
The MultiCyclone is easy to install and can be added to a new or existing pool. It can be easily retrofitted between the pump and existing filter.
