Week three of Reno Rumble saw two very different Freedom Kitchens yet both teams were awarded perfect scores; the Blue Tongues creating an edgy yet relaxed Industrial style kitchen while the Redbacks created a fresh and elegant Hamptons style kitchen.
Carly and Leighton were asked to turn Tara’s 1940’s outdated kitchen into relaxed, industrial style with practical storage. They chose strong matt black cabinetry, tying in the timber and brickwork neatly to create an open yet cosy space. The butler’s pantry and integrated dishwasher allow for maximum storage and keep appliances hidden, whilst the Caesarstone bench-tops, transparent glass splash-back and metal factory pendant lights appeal central to creating the modern, open look. Tara is pleased with the abundance of space she has to prepare meals and space to include others; “With the central bench family and friends can now sit there whilst I finish cooking which is perfect. It’s a much more social and beautiful space.”
Kyal and Kara were briefed to transform Cathryn’s uninviting kitchen and dark into an elegant, country charm of the Hamptons. They chose a neutral coulour scheme of classic white Shaker doors and Clam Shell Caesarstone bench-tops to brighten the space while incorporating open shelving, timber kitchen stools and allowing plenty of natural light. Cathryn says she loves being in her new open kitchen; “I didn’t enjoy being in my old kitchen, but I love being in the new one. It’s definitely more and I can now cook and still talk to my daughter and visitors.”
