A Melbourne based family business Armadillo Homes has taken out the top award at this year’s Master Builder of the Year Awards (residential) after completing a stunning transformation on an old Elwood home. The 1920s’ brick home had undergone numerous renovations over the years however none had managed to live up to the property’s potential.

“What was once a signature property in a prime location had lost its character and purpose but Armadillo Homes used their expertise to change that,” Master Builders CEO Radley de Silva said.  “Their vision was to restore the spirit of the home in a way that honoured its past through a modern and innovative interpretation of a family home and they achieved this brilliantly.”

The home, which was once two levels, has been renovated to now have three, all with stunning ocean views, rendering the property an impressive addition to the Elwood landscape. Designed to last, the home is contemporarily styled to ensure it transcends current fashion trends. Other stand-out home features include a spacious outdoor entertaining area and chic swimming pool.

The boutique building company will now go on to compete at the 2014 National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards on Friday 21st of November.
