“We undertook the designs, obtained building approval through council, provided detailed specifications for all aspects of the project, and recommended and organised both the pool builder and landscape contractor. We also undertook the total management of the project.”
Building approval and construction was difficult because of surrounding trees that had to be retained and an adjacent water easement that required careful consideration together with the proposed placement of the pool being over a flowing subterranean creek that was uncovered during excavation works.
“Our clients wanted something different for the design and something that would sit well and work in the environment into which it was to be placed. We believe that we delivered!”
The interesting and contrasting shapes and textures caused by the adjacent cabana, infinity edge and quadrant pool shape together with the unusual pool colour create a unique juxtaposition with the native surrounding bushland which acts as an attractive backdrop to the space.
The water of the contemporary black glass tiled swimming pool and wet edge mirrors the native Angophoras in the surrounding bushland during the day and beautifully reflects the garden and house lights at night. Together they make a bold design statement that showcases the stylish, contemporary home.
The extensive underwater conversation pit of the spa provides the perfect place for sitting, relaxing and entertaining and the long bench in the swimming pool enables people to look outwards to the stunning water views of Sydney’s Middle Harbour. For others, the surrounding paved areas and enormous day bed are set off by the views and infinity edge. The pool cabana (stage two of this project) will hold all the necessary features to service the swimming pool including the bathroom, kitchenette and gym.
The surrounding bushland has been allowed to take over the garden through the minimally implemented and supplementary planting of lomandras, grevilleas, acacias and banksias. These help create a visual link between the residence, swimming pool, cabana and water views, effectively creating a total concept.
